Christmas Concert in Quinta dos Vales

Yesterday Quinta dos Vales hosted another cultural evening for its loyal audience in a welcoming environment. Presenting a Christmas concert, uniquely performed by Coral Idéias do Levante, it was met with warming applause by the public who filled the "Sala de Provas" to capacity. At the end there were wishes of Happy Holidays and a tasting of espumante "Marquês dos Vales" accompanied by the typical "bolo rei".

Quinta dos Vales Supports Social Causes!

A charity dinner organized by the "NCA-Dutch Club Portugal" to support
the "Lar de Crianças Bom Samaritano" of Alvor was held last Monday at
"Balaia Golf Village" in Albufeira. Quinta dos Vales supported the
initiative by offering some of its wines to be raffled at the event. 18
participants were awarded with 3 bottles of wine "Marquês dos Vales" at
this event where around € 2,000.00 were raised and will give the
children in this institution a happier Christmas. To learn more about

José Praia Concert in Quinta dos Vales

In a very friendly atmosphere Quinta dos Vales welcomed yesterday a very exclusive audience who attended a very lively concert of traditional fado of Coimbra. The audience joined in singing and everyone enjoyed this second winter concert by Quinta dos Vales while savoring the delicious Marquês dos Vales wines.

Coral Idéias do Levante at Quinta dos Vales

On December 17, 2011 at 5pm, under the direction of Francisco Brazão,
Quinta dos Vales will host a Christmas Concert by the Choir Ideas Raise
(Lagoa/Algarve), featuring traditional Christmas songs in a familiar and
comfortable environment.
The initiative is the result of a partnership between Quinta dos Vales
and the Cultural Association Idéias do Levante de Lagoa.

Tickets (4.00 EUR), which may be bought online and picked up on the day
of the concert, will also be sold at Quinta dos Vales (Estombar), Artes
Barricas (Porches) and Idéias do Levante's headquarters (Lagoa), the
latter is open Monday to Friday, from 6pm to 8pm (except bank holidays).

1st National Equestrian Competition in Tavira

The Military Infantry Regiment N1 of Tavira is hosting on 26th and 27th
November 2011 the 1st national equestrian competition. It is intended to
provide a spectacular occasion in a cultural moment connected to the
rurality of the region. Several entities of Faro district will support
the event.
The well known wines of Quinta dos Vales - Marquês dos Vales - will be
tasted during the event on the 26th November between 10am and 4pm.

"... I was able to get down to the Algarve for a little break recently.
Here I visited the Quinta dos Vales winery once again to try some of the
latest wines. It was quite pleasant there with the temperature in the
low 20's (centigrade), which is very acceptable to me in mid November.
Although it is pretty quite in the Algarve at this time of year, it is a
good chance to get a cheap hotel room and see the towns as fishing
villages rather than tourist resorts. ..."

José Praia: "Between Coimbra and Lisbon"

Quinta dos Vales brings you another moment of wine and culture on
December 10th, 2011 at 9pm. The story of fado is brought to you by the
hands of a man who took a lifetime to come from the North to the
Algarve. José Praia, as he is known, was in Coimbra immersed in the full
mystic ambiance of serenades and the time of consolidation of fado,
gathering unforgettable fados and stories. The artist was not bound only
to the traditions of Coimbra and has been collecting songs from various
regions of the country, including the Alentejo where he married. Today,
some 30 years after his arrival in the Algarve, José Praia shares his
rare collection of songs and stories, collected over a lifetime of
travel cross the country as a singer and performer, with an intimate
audience of 60 people in a place full of art and beauty - Quinta dos
Vales. "A Rendilheira", "Maria se fores ao baile" and "Feiticeira" are
some of Coimbra's fados interpreted by José Praia, intent to demonstrate
also a more cheerful and conquering aspect of this style created by the
students of that city. It will also be an opportunity to demystify the
idea that fado is synonymous with sorrow and pain, transmitting it can
also be a form of expression and confirmation of the truth that, in the
voice the singer, is materialized in feelings.

Quinta dos Vales presents the second of its winter concerts intended to
boost the culture of our region through the combination of Fado and
Portuguese guitar.
