Elephants at Casa da Guia, Cascais

Quinta dos Vales, in partnership with Renato Rodyner's Gallery, is
organizing an exhibition scheduled to take place in the premises of Casa
da Guia in Cascais from 29/06 to 31/07/2012.
Casa da Guia is a reference in Cascais municipality and has become a
true meeting spot, for friends and families alike, offering a vast
selection of attractive points to all who wish to visit.
At this 19th century palace, former Summer home of the Counts of
Alcáçovas, surrounded by two hectares of gardens, built upon the cliffs
on the Cascais exit road to Guincho, you can get a close look of the 18
"Passion" project's sculpture-paintings on display. Entrance is free!

Tribute to Carlos Paredes

In Quinta dos Vales on Friday, April 13th 2012, at 9pm Miguel Drago presents a work on portuguese guitar based on songs by Carlos Paredes and accompanied by Pedro Frias. In this concert classical themes are mixed with the intent of demonstrating portuguese guitar as a solo instrument, the duo has already presented this work in several locations around the country.
The portuguese guitar is essentially linked with accompanying Fado, both in the Lisbon and the Coimbra interpretations, nevertheless it has also been used as a solo instrument, probably since its inception.
It is this side of the guitar that the performers will show in this Tribute, with focus on renowned composers/interpreters of the 20th century, like Carlos Paredes and Artur Paredes, João Bagão, Armando Freire (Armandinho), José Nunes, Jaime Santos or José Fontes Rocha. The sounds of these instruments' cords are intimately combined and transport you straight to Portugal's roots.
A unique show, full of musicality and virtuosity. Not to be missed!

Tribute to Zeca Afonso 23/03/2012

Last Friday Quinta dos Vales hosted the concert “Tribute to Zeca Afonso” played to a an intimate warming audience of around 25 people. This homage concert had the participation of group “Mar de Fora” (Luís Almeida, Sérgio Quaresma, Helder Encarnação and Luís Nunes) with guest singer Oriana Dias and Pedro Frias, responsible for putting this great show together, with the much appreciated assistence of João Reis in the sound control. Next April 13th Miguel Drago and Pedro Frias will return to Quinta dos Vales with the show “Fantasia Lusitana”, more information soon.
